Guðbjörg Ingvarsdóttir, a jewellery designer at Aurum , presented an especially designed necklace for the famous singer, Katy Perry on Saturday. The singer was in Iceland to give the Norwegian Cruise Line ship, Norwegian Prima, its name at a ceremony at Skarfabakki at the Reykjavík harbour. It was there where Guðbjörg gave her the necklace.

"This has been a long and enjoyable process which started last February. I also appreciated being there when she got the necklace. It was a beautiful moment," says Guðbjörg.

The necklace that Guðbjörg designed is a big piece made out of silver and laced with diamonds and sapphires and comes in a specially designed box. This is not the first jewellery that Guðbjörg designs for the singer. Last February she was asked to design a bracelet, which she did, and Perry had it delivered and presented to her in the United States.

"This necklace is very big and you can turn it in many ways. You can have it mostly on one shoulder, or have the biggest part in the front or at the back. It changes a bit according to how you place it on your body. It has a lot of versatility and inherent softness,"says Guðbjörg.

Guðbjörg says the necklace is a very Icelandic piece. She got her inspiration from the soft snowflakes falling to the ground and forming shining crystals that get separated and then reconnect and form a new unexpected form.

Throughout the years Guðbjörg has been a part of exciting designing projects. "The newest project was designing jewellery for the anchors for the final game of the European Cup in football. We have also designed jewellery for red carpet events in both Britain and the United States," she says.

Aurum has also designed jewellery for foreign movies who will be premiered later this year.
