Kiev square complete with its own sign plaque
The square at the corner of Garðastræti and Túngata will from now on be dedicated to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The square was formally opened a few days ago by the Mayor, Dagur B. Eggertsson, as well as the representativees of the Association Support for Ukraine.
The name for the square was unanimously agreed upon by the city administration this spring, because there was a broad concensus in showing the Ukranian nation support in their plight. The artists and also a couple, Óskar Hallgrímsson and Mariika Lobyentseva from Ukraine, were hired to design the new sign plaque for the square.
