Multi-Functional Flowers in Mjódd: Video

Bright-colored, strange-looking, giant tulips were recently planted by the Mjódd shopping center in Reykjavík. Sixteen of them now adorn the square between Mjódd and the Sambíó movie theater on Álfabakki.

Some of the tulips have handles, others turn out to be trash cans.

When mbl.is photographer Hallur Már Hallsson visited the ‘field of flowers’ the other day, passers-by were slowly discovering the tulips’ hidden uses. We invite you to watch the video for a big surprise.

The tulips are part of the City of Reykjavík’s recent renovation of the area, which clearly adds color to the surroundings.
