Harpa Hails Hildur

Vala Hafstað

Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavík, congratulated composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, who Sunday night became the first Icelander to receive an Oscar, by projecting the words “Til hamingju Hildur!” (Congratulations, Hildur!) on its walls last night.

Hildur received an Academy Award for her score to the film Joker.

Mbl.is’ photographer shot a video of the concert hall at about 6 pm, shortly after the words first appeared.

“In our view, there was no question the Icelandic nation’s concert hall should celebrate Hildur’s well-deserved victories,” Harpa CEO Svanhildur Konráðsdóttir stated in a press release.

The congratulatory message kept adorning Harpa’s walls until midnight, and visitors were encouraged to share it on social media.
