Due to the outbreak in China of the coronavirus, a Chinese New Year festival, scheduled February 2 at Harpa concert hall in Reykjavík and February 3 at Háskólabíó cinema, has been canceled, mbl.is reports.

The plan was for a performance group from the Cultural Institute of Inner Mongolia in China to show traditional dance and folk music at the festival, but its arrival has been canceled as a precautionary measure.

“We very much regret that we must cancel the festival,” states Chinese instructor Þorgerður Anna Björnsdóttir, “but we all agree that it is the right and sensible thing to do.”
