Classes Over - Time for Fun
There were ballerinas by the Pond in Reykjavík yesterday - more precisely, students dressed up as ballerinas. All over downtown, seniors from Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík junior college were dressed up in various costumes, each class with its own kind of costume.
The reason: classes are over and this is the seniors’ last chance to enjoy life before they sit down to study for their finals.
In coming days, other junior colleges will have a similar kind of celebration, certain to add color to our streets.
Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík is the country’s oldest junior college, established in Skálholt, South Iceland, in 1056. It is located on Lækjargata, in downtown Reykjavík, where it has been since 1846.
