A lifetime bracelet for Iceland Airwaves

Ever since Iceland Airwaves was held for the first time in 1999, David Fricke, editor of Rolling Stone  and Leigh Lust, who has worked in the music industry for three decades, have attended. At this year's festival they were honoured with a "lifetime bracelet" to the festival. 

Fricke and Lust are taking part in a conference organised by Iceland Music (Útón) called The Iceland Airwaves Lounge and Conference.  It takes place at the Centerhotel Plaza, which will host a series of networking events and music-focused discussions aimed at industry professionals, Icelandic musicians, and music enthusiasts from November 7th to 9th.

The conference is open this year to non-wristband holders to give everyone a
chance to see the fascinating and exciting inner workings of the music industry.
Our varied topics include gender equality, blockchain technology, and the
changing media and how this impacts artists.

Fricke and Lust spoke to Iceland Monitor about this year's festival and the Icelandic music scene. Fricke is not that happy about the surge of rap and hip hop but they both like the idea that Iceland Airwaves is smaller this year than it has been in recent years.
