Representatives from the Comenius university in Slovakia have shown interest in supporting study of Slovakian in Iceland. The reason is the great surge of Icelandic students to Slovakia.
Consul to Slovakia in Iceland, Runólfur Oddsson has been a middleman for students studying medicine in Martin in Slovakia and says that college students in Iceland are increasingly interested in learning Slovakian. "I know of college students preparing to go to study medicine at Slovakian universities. There are over 200 Icelandic students living in Martin already."
