Footballer Rúrík Gíslason is on the cover of the latest issue of Icelandic Glamour. In the interview he talks about leaving Iceland at age 15 to play football in Belgium and how he returned a broken man.
"It wasn't a good time. I was so young that I had to live with a family and they were devout Catholics. I had a girlfriend at the time and she was hardly allowed to visit," he says."I came back to Iceland a broken man, physically and mentally. I had a slipped disc and no self confidence."
He says his parents had to take a loan to help him become a professional footballer and that his parents are his biggest supporters.
