AK Extreme snowboard/music fest starts today in Akureyri

AK Extreme is a festival of snowboarding and music held in Akureyri, North Iceland. It takes place in Hlíðarfjall ski slopes and in downtown Akureyri.
One of the festivals iconic events is a Big Jump, set up out of fifteen shipping containers in the centre of town.
It’s one of the biggest event of winter in North Iceland and is very popular, particularly among young people. Last year over 7000 people turned up to see the Big Jump competition in the centre.
AK Extreme is no less about the music. Each night there's a party at Sjallinn, one of Akureyri's iconic clubs, featuring some of the biggest artists of the Icelandic hip hop scene.
