Netflix now available in Iceland
Iceland is one of the 130 new countries in which on-demand Internet streaming service Netflix is now available.
Netflix announced its arrival in Iceland back in August last year, and subscriptions are now available at https://www.netflix.com/is/. Plans start from €7.99 (approx. ISK 1,100), with the first month free.
Many Icelanders jumped the queue by acquiring foreign IP addresses and signing up to Netflix that way. According to an MMR opinion poll back in February 2014, at least one in six Icelanders were already using the service in one form or another at that time.
According to Hörður Ágústsson, from Apple repair and sales store Macland, Netflix Iceland is likely to be different from the American version as the selection of programmes depends on agreements with copyright holders in Iceland.
