Get your Christmas groove on

Samúel Jón Samúelsson's Big Band will be performing at Kex Hostel on Thursday night in a spectacular concert dubbed the Funky KEXMas party.  This band of fourteen talented musicians is unique and has received rave reviews both in Iceland and internationally. The band has performed at various jazz festivals abroad such as Berlin Jazzfest, London Jazzfestival, Jazzbaltica and the Icelandic Jazz Festival. 

Thursday night's programme will include several Christmas classics as well as original compositions which are influenced ny Nigerian Afro Beat, Ethiopian Jazz, Brazilian Samba, American funk and big band music mixed with a unique Icelandic quirkiness. Thet have also been dubbed by Morgunblaðið as "the most entertaining live band in Iceland," in a recent review.

The concert is of course also the perfect opportunity to grab one of the delightful culinary offerings at Reykjavik's hippest hostel, or indulging in an egg nog.
