"It all started when my dad died"
Aron Brink, son of deceased Icelandic pop star Sigurjón "Sjonni" Brink got a "yes" from all judges in last Friday's episode of "The Voice" for his stunning rendition of Robyn's Dancing on my own."
Judge Helgi Björnsson pressed the button in the blind audition after hearing only one line of the song.
In an interview with Mbl.is, Brink explains that his mother and father had decided to give him a guitar just before his father suddenly passed away in 2011. He learned to play the guitar soon after his father's death and has been singing and playing guitar ever since.
Aron's father Sjonni wrote a song for the Icelandic finals to the Eurovision song contest in 2011 and died just days before performing the entry. His friends stepped in and performed the song which ended up winning the Icelandic national final and going forward for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Voice is produced by and aired on Icelandic TV channel Skjár Einn.
