"Þrestir" wins best picture
A new film by Icelandic director Rúnar Rúnarsson, Þrestir, won the first prize, The Golden Shell for best picture at the San Sebastían film festival last night.
Þrestir, a poetic drama about a 16 year old boy, was premiered at the Toronto film festival recently and will be screened at the Reykjavik International Film Festival (RIFF) on October 2nd. This is Rúnarsson's second feature length film, the first being Eldfjall ( Volcano) which premiered at Cannes in 2011. Rúnarsson's short Síðasti bærinn received an Oscar nomination in 2006 for best short.
