“Nerve-racking to perform in Iceland”
World-famous Icelandic rock band Of Monsters and Men are playing two gigs, tonight and tomorrow night, at Reykavik’s Harpa Concert and Conference Hall.
This is the first time in two years that Of Monsters and Men has performed in Iceland. The group, fronted by Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, released it second album Beneath the Skin in June to critical acclaim.
“You automatically begin to wonder whether you should do concerts differently here in Iceland,” says drummer Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson. “But I think the only sensible thing to do is to do things are you are used to doing them.”
“It is always fun to perform in our home country, but nerve-racking at the same time. It’s as if there is some sort of extra pressure,” Hilmarsson explains.
Both concerts at Harpa are now sold out. Of Monsters and Men will be touring Europe later this year, with Icelandic rock band Mammút as warm-up artists.
