Monodrama Festival in the West Fjords? Why not?

For something completely different, the theatre festival Act alone will be held at the village Suðureyri 5 – 8 August. The festival is dedicated to the art of acting alone, monodrama, and is held every year in this charming place.

The acts of the festival are diverse and even though the focus is on theatre, there are also dance performances, poetry, magic and concerts. Some are heavy and dramatic, others are comical. Some are for the entire family to enjoy. There is
music and interactive acts were children can participate, and a market where some of the artistssell their own products.

The first Act Alone festival was held in 2004 and has been growing ever since. At the festival there are acts both from Iceland and abroad, and many of the artists participating are some of the bigger names in the Icelandic theatre scene.

There is no entrance fee to the festival, so if you want to pop by and see an act or two, you don’t have to commit yourself by buying an expensive festival pass.
