Fancy a dose of Icelandic life wisdom?

Icelandic Epigrams is the name of a new book by Icelandic author Heimir Steinarsson containing an English translation of edifying Icelandic proverbs and aphorisms.

“Some men measure their success / by the status in life they’ve achieved. / Others define themselves by the merit / of the ideas they’ve conceived,” reads one of the pithy life maxims contained in Steinarsson’s work.

Icelandic Epigrams is a collection of inspirational verses and cautionary rhymes aimed at passing on the accumulated wisdom of the Icelandic psyche throughout the ages in contemporary, concise English and at capturing “the character and knowledge of the Icelandic people throughout its history”.

Steinarsson’s aphorisms are based on a “large mass of oral-based literary
heritage” and cover a wide range of topics, from the divine and the secular to social relationships and human interactions.

This “assemblage of epigrams and wisdom verses” is to be available as an e-book and paperback on Amazon, Barnes & Nobel and BAM (Books-A-Million) and will also be sold in bookshops in Iceland.
