Most expensive Icelandic movie ever made

Animation company GunHil has signed a contract with Belgian company Cyborn to produce animated feature film, LÓI- þú flýgur aldrei einn (Ploey- you never fly alone). Financing of the film from Belgium is over 400 million ISK which makes LÓI the most expensive Icelandic film ever to have been made. Total production costs are over a billion ISK.
The story revolves around a little plover chick who still hasn't learned to fly when migrating birds leave Iceland and had south. He has to survive a cold Icelandic winter to be able to save his love from being prey to the falcon.
The script is written by Friðrik Erlingsson and the film is directed by Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson and Gunnar Karlsson. The film is produced by Hilmar Sigurðsson and Haukur Sigurjónsson.
German distribution company APRI Worldsales has the rights to the film which has been sold to cinemas in over 30 countries.
GunHil was founded in 2012 by Gunnar Karlsson and Hilmar Sigurðsson who have enjoyed success with animated films such as Litla Lirfan Ljota ( The ugly caterpillar) and Anna and the Moods.
Ploey will be premiered in 2017.
