The Reykjavík Children’s Culture Festival starts today and is a week long arts and culture festival dedicated to children and youth, taking place from April 21th - April 26th 2015.

The festival was launched in 2010 and is already a huge success. Dedicated exclusively to children and young people in Reykjavík up to the age of 16, this annual festival strives to introduce the youth to a wide range of arts disciplines through the medium of workshops and performances.

The unique aspect of this festival, and that which sets it apart, is that it places an emphasis on participation, focusing particularly on the child as an artist. During the festival there will be a variety of activities for children, including theatre workshops, circus, visual arts, storytelling, music, film, puppetry and dance activities, with many kindergartens, primary schools, music and art schools, libraries, museums, theatres and other cultural institutions taking part.IDNO on Vonarstræti 3, has been renamed the ‘Adventure Palace’ for the duration of the Children’s Culture Festival, and will act as heart and headquarters of the festival’s various operations and activities. Judging by the sheer volume and variety of things to do, they’ll definitely be something for everyone at the Adventure Palace.

Among the diverse items on the programme are concerts and art exhibitions by playschool children, a modern day version of Little Red Riding Hood, bird observations, dance celebrations in Harpa and much, much more. See the full programme in English HERE.
