Hjalti Karlsson, owner of design moguls karlssonwilker in New York has designed material for The New York Times, MTV, the Guggenheim and MoMA in New York to name a few. Karlsson has just designed a new range of silk and cashmere scarves for Icelandic company SagaKakala, The range, called Shizuka, will be premiered this week at DesignMarch.
The driving force behind Saga Kakala is Ingibjörg Gréta Gísladóttir, a marketing specialist in the design field. The company was founded in 2012 and aims to produce ranges of scarves designed by exciting Icelandic designers. Last year, Saga Kakala produced a range of scarves by Helga Björnsson and the second range, Shizuka, is by graphic designer Hjalti Karlsson.
karlssonwilker does not generally design fashion items but their first such project was designing shoes for Puma. They have also made graphic patterns for Diesel and Anne Klein.
The Shizuka scarves will be premiered at an opening on Wednesday March 11th at Galeria Reykjavík.
