Sónar Reykjavík went off to a beautiful start on Thursday night.  The atmosphere was electric from the onset, with crowds of youngsters hanging out in front of Harpa's glass facade. Thursday's musical offerings included Icelandic band Samaris and the fabulous Todd Terje from Norway. A new stage, SónarPub on Harpa's second floor proved very successful and transformed the venue into a thumping, pulsing techno club.

The lights in Harpa's facade are connected to the beats in Silfurberg hall for the Sónar weekend, which results in a fantastical display of colour and light which reflects well on the music festival's slogan this year: Music, creativity and technology.
