Video: Aerial View of the Eruption
This new drone footage shows the eruption from above. The video was captured early this morning by photographer Hörður Kristleifsson and reveals the fissure, which is estimated to be about one kilometer long.
The fissure appears to be a continuous, upright formation, located near Litli-Skógfell — likely slightly farther north than the site of the previous eruption.
According to Civil Protection authorities, the eruption is occurring in a favorable location, and there are currently no known threats to infrastructure.
