When asked about a message to the Icelandic people, the president said he was grateful and wished the nation peace. He then said people's main values are peace, democracy, and freedom.

Bjarni Benediktsson began the speech by saying that it was an honor and a privilege to bring Zelensky to Thingvellir.

"Ukrainians are fighting for the freedom of their country, for the future of their children, for their independence, and also for the respect of international laws," said the Prime Minister, underlining the importance of Thingvellir in the history of Iceland's independence.

Zelensky then took the floor where he thanked the Prime Minister for the invitation and then he also thanked for the support Ukraine has received from Iceland as well as the other Nordic countries.

Would not be possible without support

"We are defending our lives, our homes, and our children every day, but it would not be possible without the support of our friendly nations." We are very grateful, but today we need to be much stronger to stop Putin, and that is what I want to discuss with our friends and allies."

Mr. President, what message do you have for the Icelandic people?

"We are grateful to your people. What message can I give? I wish you peace. I think the greatest value people can have is peace. Of course also democracy and freedom. Freedom is extremely important. That's what I wish you," Zelensky said.
