A little while ago, law and order received a report that a white bear had come ashore on Höfðaströnd in Jökulfjörður in the Westfjords. This is stated in a notification from the Westfjord Police on Facebook.

People encouraged to stay indoors

"The police in the Vestfjords, after consultation with the Icelandic Environment Agency, has called out the LHG helicopter and the rescue boat Kobbi Láki has already set off with two Law enforcement officers from Ísafjörður. The plan is to ensure the safety of the people who may be in the area. Those who are in the area are encouraged to stay indoors until the law issues further notice," says the announcement from the Westfjord Police on Facebook.
