The girl has died

The teenage girl who was stabbed in the city center on Culture Night has died.

This is stated in an announcement from the police in the capital area.

She died of her injuries at Landspítali National Hospital yesterday evening. Her name was Bryndís Klara Birgisdóttir and she was 17 years old.

"Bryndís Klara's family would like to express their gratitude to everyone who tried their best to save Bryndís Klara's life, especially the staff of Landspítali and those who provided first aid at the scene. Their help is invaluable," says the announcement.
