Pride was launched earlier today and the street in front of the Pride social center was painted in the colors of the inclusive progress flag, a flag that combines the rainbow flag, the trans flag, and the intersex flag among others, says Hrefna Þórarinsdóttir, the director of the Pride social center.

Tonight there will be an opening ceremony at eight o'clock in Gróska : "There will be a lot of festivities" says Bjarni Snæbjörnsson, singer, actor, and writer, one of the organizers of the opening ceremony.

Hanna Katrín Friðriksson, Viðreisn MP, will give a speech and Snæbjörnsson says that there will be plenty of entertainment.

He mentions, for example, musical pieces from Bashar Murad, the musical theater choir Viðlag and RÁN.

Bára Halldórsdóttir and Friðrik Agni Árnason will dance and the drag queens Cristatrista and House of Heart hold a drag show.

"We're going to run this fast and safely, it's not going to be a long schedule." We're just going to have fun, blow up a few confetti bombs, be happy, and laugh a bit," says Snæbjörnsson, but points out that according to the official program, DJ Alexander will keep the mood in the air in Gróska and then take it to downtown Reykjavík.

Everyone is welcome

"Everyone is welcome and it's not just for gay people, it's about celebrating our culture and everyone is welcome, even if they're not gay," he says and continues:

"It is with joy in our hearts that we open our doors to everyone who wants to come with us. Rejoice and celebrate diversity."
