Heat water and electricity was restored in Grindavík yesterday. HS Veitur reports that they've been working on restoring hot water and electricity in the eastern part of Grindavík.

“Due to the dangerous situation, the project was carried out with the help of a special force of State police and other specially trained response personnel and the operations were aimed at restoring the infrastructure that is safe and functioning,” the announcement states.

Possible that the heating system of the house doesn't work

“The operation was successful, but it is clear that due to damage to utility systems in the town, it was not possible to get electricity and hot water to all houses in Grindavík. In some cases, the house’s heating system may not work even though the house is receiving hot water.”

For that reason, the Civil Protection has joined a response team of plumbers to check the condition of heating systems of properties in defined areas of the town.
