Youths from the Queer Youth Centre are fully prepared for their carriage for tomorrow’s walk. Viktor Lucaforte, a member of the youth center, says the kids are great and extremely imaginative and creative. The idea is that the carriage is colourful, inviting celebration but also having an important message to give.

... Until it's safe to go to school

This year’s theme is the Fight Isn’t Over... Kids have finished that phrase up with messages like... until my grandmother picks me up or... until I can go to school in peace. Viktor assumes the community center will have the biggest carriage in the march this year, which will be attended by young people aged 12-16. Older youths will then walk beside the carriage to ensure the safety of those standing on it.

That is all Lucaforte wants to say for now, people must come tomorrow to see the carriage in all its glory.

A small local affair has grown into an internation celebration

Icelanders have been celebrating Reykjavik Pride every year since 1999. It started as a small affair and around 1500 guests attended on Saturday 26 1999 and celebrated on Ingólfstorg in downtown Reykjavík.  The next year twelve thousand people attended and it has been getting bigger ever since. Iceland's little pride has turned into a colourful ten-day celebration that attracts over 100 thousand guests from all over the world and is sometimes called: "Reykjavík Pride, the biggest little Pride Parades in the world."
