The State Police Commissioner in agreement with the Police Chief in Suðurnes has expressed the level of civil protection uncertainty over the earthquake-prone region of the Reykjanes peninsula.
This has just been reported by the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management.
Residents in the southwest are encouraged to consider the loose items and anything inside their homes that might fall in case of earthquakes.
In particular, it is stated that attention must be paid to loose items that might fall on people in their sleep.
The Icelandic Met Office has also noted that rockfall and landslides can go off in steep terrain, so it’s good to exercise caution when approaching steep slopes.
