Mowi acquires 51.28% of Arctic Fish

The acquisition of Norwegian farming giant Mowi’s 51.28% stake in the Icelandic salmon farming company Arctic Fish has gone through. Mowi paid 26 billion ISK for the share, or about 1,670 ISK per share.

The European Commission gave its blessing to the purchase yesterday was reported in the stock exchange announcement.

The world's largest producer

Mowi had been tracking the progress of Arctic Fish for the last few years before the purchase.

A company announcement states that Icelandic salmon farming is undergoing extensive construction and the purchase gives the company the opportunity to participate in this boom.

Mowi is the world's largest producer of farmed Atlantic salmon. The company employs about 12,200 people and has facilities in 25 countries.
