Reykjavík swimming pools will open today
Laugardalslaug opened for visitors at 7 o’clock this morning and other Reykjavík City swimming pools will open afterwards at 11.30 AM. The hot spring beach in Nauthólsvík will also open at eleven. This was announced by the City of Reykjavík.
As reported, swimming pools in Reykjavík and the hot spring beach in Nauthólsvík were closed on Monday due to a malfunction in the Hellisheiði power plant. Repairs to the power plant were completed yesterday morning, but swimming pools have continued to be closed to make way for water supplies as was stated in the City of Reykjavík’s announcement.
In addition, it is also stated that it is not possible to heat up the pools and pots until six in the morning.
“The indoor pool in Laugardalslaugin hasn’t cooled much in the closure and the hot tubs can be heated rather quickly, so it will open for a morning swim as early as 7 AM. The outdoor pool will be cooler,” the announcement stated.
