81% of Icelanders never smoke

Over 81% of people in Iceland never smoke which is the third highest proportion of non-smokers in Europe. The highest percentage of non-smokers is in Sweden, 83 % and in Britain, just under 83%.

The highest percentage of smokers was in Bulgaria followed by Greece and Turkey.

This appeared in a European Health Examination Survey published by the Iceland Statistics Bureau. The survey was conducted in Iceland in the autumn of 2015.
