Iceland and Norway not granted exemption
Iceland and Norway will not be exempt from the European Commission’s safeguard measures on ferrosilicon.
This is the outcome of the vote on the measures, that was voted on today.
“It is an important step to protect the European Union’s industry,” the European Commission said in a press release, according to TV 2.
Ægir Þór Eysteinsson, spokesperson for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, confirms to mbl.is that Iceland did not receive the exemption.
Icelanders and Norwegians had fought hard for the exemption but to no avail.
