A close call at Reynisfjara Black Beach was captured on video by Magnae Malachi, a tourist who recently visited Iceland and posted the footage on TikTok.

The video shows two children nearly swept out to sea by a powerful wave — a chilling reminder of the deadly surf that has claimed several lives at the site.

The family, apparently traveling with two small children and a baby, can be seen near the shore as the yellow warning light at the beach blinks in the background. Moments later, a large sneaker wave rushes in, knocking the children off their feet and dragging them toward the water. Fortunately, the wave pulls them toward their parents instead of out to sea.

The clip ends with the family walking away, seemingly unharmed but visibly shaken.

The incident comes only months after the tragic death of an eight-year-old girl at ReynisfjaraBlack Beach under similar circumstances in early August. Following that tragedy, authorities increased safety measures, including a plan to make the red warning light at the beach activate sooner when conditions are dangerous.
