Video: Driver and cyclist in confrontation

“This car wouldn’t give him any room. Then the driver just started bumping into him,” says Pétur Jóhannesson in an interview with mbl.is. He witnessed the altercation between a cyclist and a driver near Spöngin today and captured the incident on video, which can be seen above.

Asked why he began recording, Jóhannesson says the driver repeatedly drove into the cyclist, who was riding on the road due to poor surface conditions on the path.

“He pushes him toward the curb,” Jóhannesson says.

He explains that the cyclist was riding on the road and that the driver appeared to become angry that he wasn’t using the sidewalk.

“The driver moves into his side and forces him toward the edge,” he adds.

In the video, the driver can be seen driving into the cyclist, who responds by hitting the side mirror and then punching into the car, apparently toward the driver. At the same time, the man’s bicycle is caught underneath the car.
