The Commissioner of the Icelandic Police, along with the Chief of the South Iceland Police, has cancelled an alert stage due to earthquakes in Mýrdalsjökull glacier.

The earthquake swarm began on May 4th at 09:41 PM northeast of Katla caldera and three quakes were measured over magnitude 4. The swarm was moving quickly and was largely over the same day, the report said.

No further activity has been detected this weekend, indicating that the alert is not necessary at this time. On the same day that the uncertainty level was declared, the Suðurland Police closed the road into Katlajökull glacier, which was opened the following day.
