Search Underway for 29-Year-Old Man

Extensive search is underway in Southwest Iceland for a 29-year-old man, Almar Yngvi Garðarsson, who has been missing since early Sunday morning, mbl.is reports.

Rescue teams, the Icelandic Coast Guard and police all participate in the search.

Almar is believed to have been driving a grey rental car, a Chevrolet Spark, with the license plate number HUX90. He was last seen in Hafnarfjörður Sunday morning, between the hours of 2 and 3 am.

Almar is 190-cm (6 ft 3 in) tall, lean, dark-haired, with a shadow beard.

Most likely, he is wearing a white, hooded sweatshirt, a black vest, and grey sneakers.

Yesterday and today, the police posted statements , asking the public for clues or information regarding Almar’s whereabouts.

Footage from security cameras has been examined, too, to no avail. Superintendent Skúli Jónsson states that there is no suspicion of foul play.

Among other things, the police plan to search for the vehicle in large parking lots and on trails. The Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter will search the coast from Þorlákshöfn to Straumsvík.

Anyone able to provide information regarding Almar’s whereabouts is asked to contact the police immediately by calling the emergency number, 112.
