Strikes in Reykjavík Tomorrow

Negotiations between Efling union and the City of Reykjavík concluded this morning without a deal. Therefore, strikes are to begin at 12:30 pm tomorrow, mbl.is reports. This was confirmed by Harpa Ólafsdóttir, who chairs the city’s negotiating committee. The next negotiation meeting in the labor dispute is set for Wednesday at 3 pm.
The strikes will affect 63 preschools in the city, nursing homes, and garbage collection –1,850 employees in all.
Union members will be on strike tomorrow, Tuesday, from 12:30 pm till midnight.
If no deal is reached on Wednesday, the strikes are scheduled to continue as follows:
Thursday, February 6, from a minute past midnight until 11:59 pm.
Tuesday, February 11, from 12:30 pm until midnight.
Wednesday, February 12, from a minute past midnight until 11:59 pm.
Thursday, February 13, from a minute past midnight until 11:59 pm.
If no deal is reached by Monday, February 17, a strike starts that day and continues indefinitely.
