Ukranian football fans arrested at Iceland- Ukraine match last night
The Reykjavik Metropolitan Police arrested two supporters of the Ukranian national team last night at Laugardalur shortly after the Iceland- Ukraine match began. The men were carrying rocks in their backpacks.
Police also removed knives from a backpack of another supporter, and several supporters had glass bottles in their backpacks. All of these supporters were barred from rentering the stadium.
Police had information about fans causing trouble from other countries where the Ukranian national team have played and were prepared, with members of the special armed forces unit at the match.
Around 200 police officers were present at the match.
The Icelandic team were victorious in last night's match which means that there are two matches left: Turkey- Iceland on October 6th and Iceland- Kosovo on October 9th.
