The storm that raged over Iceland yesterday has subsides somewhat, but not completely. Part of the road that lies along Iceland’s South Coast is still closed, but will open shortly according to The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration.

It is still very windy in South Iceland and particularly by Vatnajökull glacier, where the road is closed.

Even though the road will open shortly it’s still very windy and people on mobile homes are advised not to travel in the area. The same goes for the road by Eyjafjöll, not far from Vík and Seljalandsfoss in South Iceland.

Many mountain roads in the West Fjords, North Iceland and East Iceland are still covered with snow and are not passable unless the car has winter tires. Travellers are advised to consult the weather forecast and road conditions before starting their journey.
