Last summer, Víðir Björnsson decided he’d had enough of the boring 9-5, sold his Playstation and used the money to get himself a GoPro camera. Since then, he has become a successful and sought-after “passionate Icelandic photographer”.

His action-packed and beautiful images of Icelandic life have attracted the interest of the foreign press and commissions are rolling in. The BBC picked up on Björnsson’s photo of an Icelandic ‘moonbow’ and interviewed him about his work.

Björnsson DJs at weekends and is an accomplished musician. “I intend to work in something connected with photography,” he says. “People have been very encouraging and that is great. This really is the thing for me and I have become a real outdoors man – which is the perfect combination.”

You can see more of Björnsson’s work on his website here or on Instagram (vidirb).
