Car-Free Day in Reykjavik – free buses!
All bus journeys with Strætó, the Icelandic bus company serving the Greater Reykjavik area, will be free today.
The move is intended to mark the final day of European Mobility Week 2015. Today is Car Free Day in Reykjavik with Póststræti, Austurstræti and sections of Laugavegur and Skólavörðustígur closed to car traffic.
Travellers are encouraged by Strætó to “take a break from worrying about parking spaces and the price of petrol” and take one of their buses free instead.
