As of today, travelers arriving in Iceland from high-risk COVID-19 areas are no longer required to stay at a quarantine facility, according to the government website. At the same time, notices regarding regions and countries considered special high-risk areas for COVID-19 will no longer be published.

Only those who do not have access to adequate facilities for home quarantine are required to stay at a quarantine facility.  Everyone arriving in Iceland who is required to quarantine still has to pre-register the intended dwelling place, regardless of whether it is a quarantine facility or a private accommodation.

The provisions on compulsory stay at a quarantine facility apply to those arriving in Iceland May 28 or earlier. Travelers required by those rules to stay at a quarantine facility shall complete their quarantine there.

Close to 30 passenger jets landed at Keflavík International Airport over the weekend, making it the busiest weekend at the airport since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Morgunblaðið reports. Up to 20 airlines are expected to offer flights to Iceland this summer.

Additional healthcare workers have been hired to take care of COVID-19 testing at the airport, and new ones are being trained. Everyone arriving in the country is required to be tested for the coronavirus.
