WOW Air to run bicycle rentals in Reykjavik

Last year the city advertised for ideas and interested parties in running rental bicycle stations in Reykjavik, and WOW Air answered the call.

The city of Reykjavik and Icelandic airline WOW have made a contract to put up bicycle rental stations in Reykjavik, as are common in many other European capitals.

Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson announced the collaboration on his Facebook page.

“This is a project we’ve been working on and plan to finish before summer,” says Svanhvít Friðrikdsdóttir of WOW Air. “This will be 8 stations, and people can rent the bike in one place and return it in another. It’s a common thing in many cities.”

Around 100 bicycles will be for rent this summer, but it’s not completely clear where the bicycle stations will be located or how much it will cost to rent a bike.
