The Reykjavik planning authorities have accepted the architecture of a new hotel to be built in the city's main shopping street, Laugavegur.

The hotel will offer 60 rooms and is situated on Laugavegur 34a-36 and is set to open next summer. Building costs amount to 800 million ISK and the company behind it is called Lantan.

The hotel will be composed of two renovated buildings that face Laugavegur and a construction of two similar buildings facing Grettisgata, with connecting buildings between them. A walking path will be constructed under the buildings, connecting Laugavegur and Grettisgata.
