Today a gigantic Thanksgiving meal was offered at Háma, the canteen at the University of Iceland where food for 800 people was prepared. One hundred and fifty kilos of turkey were up for grabs with forty kilos of stuffing, fifty litres of sauce and a whole load of sweet potatoes and other accompaniments.

This is the second year in a row that the student's union hosts a Thanksgiving meal. Rebekka Sigurðardóttir at the student union says that she likes the event even though some people are annoyed that Icelanders are taking up traditions from other countries. "There are people from all over the world at the University. We think it's great to participate in as many festivals as we can. We have no prejudice against the festivities of other nations."
