A new video to song Þú lýgur (you lie) by Icelandic rock band HAM was premiered today to coincide with the release of Ham's third studio album. The band are performing at Húrra tonight and tomorrow night.

The video is directed and shot by filmmaker and musician Thorgeir Guðmundsson and stars artist and musician Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson who dances, screams and crawls his way through the song.

"Well there's not much to say about this video really. I just pressed the rec button on my camera and the play button on Sigtryggur," snarls Thorgeir, and then changes his mind. "No, the basic idea comes from HAM drummer Arnar Geir Ómarsson. He wanted a dance video featuring Sigtrygggur Berg who is also featured on the cover of the HAM album. I liked the idea of course," says Guðmundsson.

"We had intended to make a video to the song Vestur Berlin and I wanted to go to Berlin to shoot. But this obviously costs time and money and those Ham guys are busy people. So Addi just said: you're on your own. So that original idea was adapted to Iceland instead, with Sigtryggur Berg starting off crawling out in the nature and then travelling around Reykjavík. I then mixed those shots with older footage I had of Ham performing live and that's how the story developed. Sigtryggur going somewhere and ending up at a Ham concert, crawling between people's legs towards the light on the stage."

Guðmundsson says that artist Sigmundur Berg Sigmarsson, also known for his experimental musical compositions in Stilluppsteypa, has been developing the character featured in the video for quite some time.  He regularly performs the Shivering Man and has taken part in dance and theatrical performances with choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir,  including Sacrifice at the city theatre where he starred in a film by Matthew Barney.

"For the video we just drove around to look for good locations, then we would just jump out with the camera and my direction was mainly just shouting at him, "Be more crazy, be even more crazy."

HAM perform at Húrra tonight and tomorrow night with the venue opening at 9 pm and tickets available on Tix.is . On Friday at 5 pm members of HAM will be signing records at Lucky Records on Rauðarárstígur in Reykjavik.
