Televoting figures from national broadcaster RÚV show that ‘Hear Them Calling’ by Greta Salóme Stefánsdóttir was the clear victor in last week’s Eurovision selection extravaganza in Reykjavik.

After the first round of voting, just two songs remained in the competition – ‘Hear Them Calling’ and ‘Now’ by Alda Dís Arnardóttir.

A second round of head-to-head voting then took place, in which 64,918 new votes were cast. Greta Salóme took 61.3% of this popular vote, thereby winning the Icelandic ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden, in May.

70% of the entire population tuned in at some stage to watch the final of the Icelandic selection.
