New director for the Icelandic Opera
Steinunn Birna Ragnarsdóttir has been appointed as the new director of the Icelandic Opera. Ragnarsdóttir is the former music director of Harpa concert hall and conference centre in Reykjavík.
Stefán Baldursson, who has been opera director for the past eight years will be leaving the position this spring. Ragnarsdóttir graduated as a piano teacher in 1979 and finished her solo performer’s examination two years later. She graduated with an M.A. degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in 1987.
