Icelanders go nuts over Omaggio vase

When 200 Omaggio brass anniversary edition vases from Kähler went on sale online at the Módern webshop in Iceland, the site collapsed from the demand. In an earlier presale, 200 vases were sold in the space of five minutes.
Owner of Módern, Úlfar Finsen says demand was greater than he ever imagined. The vase is a 175th anniversary hand-painted edition from Danish ceramics company Kähler, and is produced with stripes of several different colours. The brass version of the vase, featured in the style section of mbl.is, Smartland recently, has been spotted in design magazines worldwide.
"When we contacted the supplier and told him what happened with our website and of the demand here in Iceland he wasn't positive that he was able to get more vases as they are sold out but yesterday we received good news and everyone who ordered a vase and received confirmation of the sale will be able to get one. "
Finsen adds that he has never experienced so much popularity of a product before. "This has been demanding and interesting at the same time. We had some problems but now several hundred people own the vase and are very happy."
